Our Jungle Lodges

Kanha Jungle Lodge
KANHA JUNGLE LODGE is just a short walk from Kanha National Park, Mukki entrance gate. It provides visitors with a truly exciting and rewarding jungle experience. The lodge nests in an 11 acre estate of thick mature Sal forest providing a ideal setting for bird watching for a natural history oriented traveller.

Accommodation
We offer 19 spacious, twin room, having modern facilities including attached bath with ruining hot and cold showers writing desk, comfortable furniture.

Services
Room
The Lodge offers friendly and efficient rooms. The lodge has 19 rooms all equipped with twin beds with reading lights, writing table and chairs, large luggage rack, Privates facilities with hot and cold running water.

Dinning and Public Areas

Tiger Lounge
A large common room serves as dinning areas which seats 40. And lounge chairs to relax and read. One can browse through books in the library or just study the numerous information panels on the boards.

The Courtyard
Is an open area in center of the Lodge surrounded by Sal Trees with chirping birds and fluttering butterflies - a great place to spend the winter days or evening Discussion on conservation issues around campfire over a drink. Also it provides ideal set up for out star gazing in the evening.

Under the Sat Trees there are a few Hammock for those who want to relax in the shade of the Sal forest. There are some traditional swings if one just wants to relax or read a book.

Astronomy Station
In the zone just outside the forest in the Meadow is this center for stargazing. Also one can see the Deer and other animals in the Meadows.

The Maidan (grounds)
Most of the land is left wild with lush wild grass to attract and make Jungle inhabitants comfortable. There is however interspersed with some fruit trees that attract our Jungle neighbors.

Sports and TV
The lodge is equipped with sport facilities of Volleyball and Badminton and indoor games such as Chess. There is TV and Video and a library of Wildlife films or to play your own video short in the Jungle and have some interesting fun by sharing with others. All this are available on request.

Solar Energy
To increase our dependence on the direct energy sources we have tried to use the power of sun god to provide us the energy and help save the worlds natural environment.

Solar Water Heaters - Our Hot water system comes out of the two efficient solar water heaters which provide reliable and enough supply.

Solar Cooking - Some part of the cooking for our Guest is done in two different types of Solar cookers. This helps minimize energy use and also food cooked is health and tasty. Our guest can ask for cooking lessons for solar cooking.

Wormy-Composting
To make efficient and hygienic disposal of organic waste of our lodge we are using process of decomposition by worms which is efficient, odorless and provides us with rich organic fertilizers for our organic farming on site.

Bird Watching
We organize Bird watching excursions around the Lodge in its lush forest during the day for those energetic and would wants active programs.

Butterflies
Kanha is specially rich is butterflies and a large number of them are found at Kanha Jungle Lodge. See the collection of Butterflies at the Lodge.

Naturalist
Our resident Naturalist oversees most of our environment sensitive program and conducts safaris to national Park , Birding excursion around our wild lands, village excursions, Astronomical session and discusses with you the days rap up of the activities and observations and answer your questions. He is actively involved with the conservation activities sponsored by the Lodge through Tiger Trust.


Safaris
Jungle Safaris ( Photos) are organized by 4 x 4 vehicles, open from all sides to give you a panoramic unobstructed view of the landscape and to catch every bird or animal that may just sneak into the grasses and to listen to the sounds of the nature weather it be mating calls, alarm calls, distress call or just a casual roar. The Vehicles are extremely quite and do not disturb the peaceful jungle environment and allows us to listen to Jungle sounds and photographs with great amount of ease. There are two jungle excursions as Down and Dusk are conducted. The safari are accompanied by a guide and last for 4-5 hours in the morning and 3-4 hours in the evening . During the jungle excursion there is always a good chance to see many animals including rare animals such as Tiger, leopard, Gaur ( Indian Bison) sloth bear or a pack of Dhole (wild Dogs). The jungle sounds of alarm calls of the Deer and Monkeys and occasionally the red jungle fowl make the forest come alive as if we are sitting in a theater with the worlds best stereophonic sound equipment.
